In 2008/09 Newby Trust Limited made some important changes to the implementation of its educational policy. The decision was taken to support education at the post-graduate or post-doctoral level by allocating funds to selected universities or institutions in the United Kingdom.

The selected institutions are currently :

City University, London

The London School of Economics & Political Science

The University of Edinburgh

The University of Manchester

Grants are awarded at the discretion of these universities subject to guidelines related to the purposes of the Trust.
